NYU Shanghai expects its undergraduate students to spend their first two years on core courses and to select an academic specialization that best suits their academic and career interests after a thorough understanding of majors and their career prospects. Students can tailor their curriculum by adding specialized tracks and minors. English is the language of instruction on campus, but all non-Chinese students must study and become proficient in Mandarin Chinese.
