NYU Shanghai offers a first-class liberal arts education with a unique undergraduate educational model that empowers students to explore the liberal arts as well as gain professional training. Undergraduate students pursue a course of study equipping them with a broad knowledge base and the tools to become active learners and lifelong creative thinkers. To encourage cross-disciplinary exchange and cooperation, there are no departments or schools under the three divisions of academic programs. NYU Shanghai’s master’s and PhD programs enable students to acquire a top-flight education and prepare them to be future leaders dedicated to advancing the global good in their chosen fields.

NYU Shanghai is the intellectual home to some of the world’s best scholars, researchers, teachers and mentors. Our faculty have been elected to the US National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and many other distinguished domestic and international societies. Conducting research in state-of-the-art laboratories and in some specialized research institutes and centers, members of the faculty regularly publish their findings in leading scholarly journals.

NYU Shanghai has grown from its first class of 295 undergraduates in 2013. Today’s student body is truly diverse and international. From the start, students are fully immersed in a multicultural and multilingual learning environment, helping them develop into innovative individuals with strong cross-cultural communication skills.

NYU Shanghai has graduated six undergraduate classes and held its third postgraduate convocation ceremony. NYU Shanghai's thriving alumni community is expanding worldwide. Students pursue their chosen career paths with the ideals, commitment, and knowledge gained from their time at NYU Shanghai. They contribute to society and serve others by applying their knowledge and putting their skills into practice.
